Prong, a band that was staple on the original version of Headbangers Ball with the hit 'Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck' is back. The band broke up in 1997 and reformed and recorded 'Scorpio Rising' in 2002. Then founder and singer Tommy Victory went back on tour playing guitar for Danzig and Prong was inactive until now. Prong is back again on Al Jourgensen's 13th Planet label with a new album that fuses the bands industrial thrash metal sound with a modern hardcore-metal sound. It seems that Prong, the band that influenced bands like Nine Inch Nails and Korn, has been influenced themselves by modern bands like Hatebreed and Shadows Fall. Of course it could be attributed to the mutual influence of bands like Iron Maiden, and Killing Joke which all of these bands have in common. Either way Prong has modernized its sound without going soft and this is a rare feet for any band.

The song '3rd Option' has fast, layered, guitars and double bass galloping at an insane pace with Tommy Victorys angry yell sending the message home. 'Pure Ether' has a shredding verse and almost catchy chorus featuring some decent lead guitar. On this song especially it seems Prong has moved away from the spastic, deliberate beats of industrial music and has an opted for a more constant, shredding metal rhythm structure, though the guitars are still played in distinctly trashy patterns. Though the song 'The Banishment' fuses Prongs old sound and its new sound more effectively. The verse has funky drum beat and the guitars have an old school diminished ring to them, the song 'Can't stop The Bleding' has this same fusion as well. A decently constructed metal album Prongs new album is definitely worth checking out.
