The two man metal machine known as Arsis has become one of the more notable metal acts to come along in some years. Think about that, especially when you listen to their sophomore full length "United In Regret". This is one of few bands out there that can be strictly considered metal. Michael Van Dyne's song writing is powerful and this band should be commended for their musical prowess because in today's heavy music world what is considered good is usually total garbage with few exceptions.

"United In Regret" rains riff after riff on you with an excellent well rounded use of dynamics and melodies. Dynamics are key in keeping a song, and in a larger way, an album full of interest. In heavy musical this is a positive attribute to have and in the right hands it can become quite enthralling. Arsis seems to have all of these positives nailed down and the fact that it's a two piece probably helps keep the creative momentum very tight and focused.

"United In Regret" portrays a musicianship that is full of charismatic quality and keeps you looking forward to the next track. Arsis gives American Metal a real sense of hope.

In 1979, Dead Kennedys frontman Jello Biafra ran for mayor of San Francisco. Although many viewed this as a publicity stunt, Biafra finished a respectable fourth in the poll.
