Ambience is a careful subject when it comes to the art of its placement amongst songs that Kayo Dot has been well strapped for. An acquired taste comes to mind when one thinks of ambient music and for those who delve into such a style, you probably are well aware of Kayo Dot's fine ability to compose such songs which include the aspects of ambience but also much more. Fans of such music are usually dedicated to their catalog of artists who take on the task of taking space and turning it into active motion no matter how slow it may be, hence is the way of Kayo Dot's new disc 'Dowsing Anemone with Copper Tongue'.

The album is a large one both in length and as said before the amount of sound floating around your head in its duration. There tends to be always a forward motion with Kayo Dot that makes each song move at a rate that at times seems to be a pace of nowhere but with time and patient listening it all unfolds into a larger scheme that tends to be uplifting even at its darkest times. This album is not one to be taken in small amounts, it requires alot of sitting down and simply listening and when heard loud enough you can catch all the details that float around within their enormous walls. Kayo Dot are part of the select few who can compose such sound in a way that can captivate while opening one up to larger scales of music creation.

I can go off about band's that you might enjoy similar too Kayo Dot but in the end you will have to find out for yourself, but generally if you are a fan of big sound then you most likely already heard Kayo Dot. Anyone can make noise and ambience travel a long way but with nowhere to go it makes little sense to do so but with 'Dowsing Anemone with Copper Tongue' that otherwise useless sound is turned into something much greater.
