The long awaited full length "Genesis" has arrived after the band's greatly acclaimed "Doom" EP left many metalheads wanting more. Well it's a good thing for me that it's hear because I don't know about you but the "Doom" EP as good as it was, was way too breakdown oriented. The band has stepped away from their breakdown fixation which is a good thing because while it didn't take away from the material it gave it a ring that was way too familiar.
With "Genesis" the band shows their true colors and by that I mean the real extent of their playing ability, which is quite excellent. In all "Genesis" is one of the better death metal releases to come out in awhile, it's no surprise that this band was picked up by Metal Blade and even less of a surprise that this album slays. There aren't any really outlandish sub-bass breakdowns in this album which is good and leaves the band to just demolish you with grindy breaks and excellent evil melodies that send shivers. Job For A Cowboy not only prove that good death metal is still out there but that their name is one of the most badass names a death metal band could have. Back to the actual music, you will find everything you heard on their previous EP with some extended musical prowess that pounds away track after track.
"Genesis" will mark one in a line of well rounded death metal releases that this band will soon be even more favored for.
