This is unabashed Bathory worship of a very high caliber. At times semi-black/goth-heavy in the Siebenburgen route, Falkenbach nonetheless retain their folky viking backbone they've become known for.
I'd say this falls in the fantasy metal classification. If I played D&D, this would be my shit. At times they come off like a stripped down non-symphonic Therion, or what Cradle of Filth once was early in their career.
I have listened to two of Falkenbach's previous albums and was never much impressed. This is the best of what I've been exposed to. If anyone is into Finntroll or Korpikilaani then you'll freak out over this.
