Texas Is On Fire aren't trying to do something they can't or make huge opuses of metal carnage with that oh so delightful breakdown thrown about but rather they do the metal and core thing with gusto and simplicity, and it works, I don't know how but it works with 'Shine.Set.Repeat' the band don't explore anything, don't go anywhere 'metalcore' already has, but rather they give you short bursts of excellent metal know how.
There are hardly any songs on this disc that surpass the three minute mark, which is a good thing in this case. The short duration of the songs leaves them room to do a lot and not run out of steam halfway through a disc like most 'metalcore'. Instead you get here plenty of speed plenty of crunches for your buck at a short time frame that will keep you until the last breakdown. They know exactly what's up they are not trying to not fit into anything they know exactly what they are and they know exactly how to be what they are to their very best. I'm surprised by this release as I instantly expected another BS metalcore band but I was taken off guard by their ability to actually be able to play. The songs are about at the same pace, fast and sometimes, faster, there are never huge openings it comes and goes leaving you decimated and bloodied along the way. Their sound is exceptional as well, bringing a very good low section and they stay there while the usually dissonance floats around. For the most part this is a zombie killer train on fire going at unforgiving speed ready to make your body explode.
Texas Is On Fire are powering that zombie train, so prepare to be eaten alive by a locomotive.
