Not far from their self titled release, War of Ages return with "Pride of the Wicked" an album which may or may not come under heavy scrutiny by peers, but is going to.
It's hard to explore an album which leaves nothing to be explored, you might consider my approach wrong but there should be an element in any album that compels you to listen. This new release from War of Ages shows one how the band has picked up where they last left off, have produced "new" material in a sense, but more so have kept with a formula many find comfortable. This formula becomes the box that ends up surrounding a band which ends up becoming the predictability that can be seen minutes away from the foreseen played part.
This is another act which the reviewer of the disc can give the positive qualities of the album a brief consideration but is left wanting more. This wanting more is in no way selfish but rather beckons for a band to give what they damn well know what they have in them. The songs in their context are strong and very heavy, and in that context they succeed. The success here could be even more and if you are a lover of music as well as a player of one, the notion is to push and push for songs that will surpass that given stereotypical structure ensuing excitement where it belongs.
