Here is an album that will have fans of classically inspired heavy metal in the throes of rapture as Epica deliver a stunning achievement with 'We Will Take You With Us.' Recorded for the popular Dutch television program, 2 Meter Sessies, the group appears with both an orchestra and choir, lending even more power to the group's amazing performance on haunting tracks such as 'Sensorium' and 'Façade Of Reality', the latter including voice-over samples of English Prime Minister Tony Blair speaking of the challenges which face the world in the present day. Vocalist Simone Simons displays incredible control as she croons with an angelic aura, making the perfect counterpart to the group's highly dramatic compositions.
An album filled with sonic highlights, 'We Will Take You With Us' crosses the bridge laid by the band's highly touted 'The Phantom Agony', as Epica show that metal can be married with classical interpretation in a manner that transcends genres of music, resulting in a deeply moving musical experience. A stunning performance of 'Cry For The Moon' is certain to be highly attractive to those who relish the music of bands like Nightwish and The Aerium, While the distorted guitars and bleak growls of Mark Jansen lend the performance a metallic quality, it is the brilliance of the performance of band, orchestra and choir in unison that gives the song it's ultimate charisma.
Also including a German version of 'Run For A Fall' that sheds some light as to the original intent behind the song, as well as three acoustic only tracks, 'We Will Take You With Us' is a record that offers the listener a highly diverse and emotional listening experience. Highly recommended for those who are devotees of symphonic metal, this album succeeds on all levels as a fantastic recording. One listen and you'll be hooked on the rich, dynamic, sonic art that is Epica.
