Leadoff track 'Until The Fall' resonates with a vibe that is quite similar to 'Beg To Differ' era Prong, in terms of arrangement and the manner in which the musical idea is conveyed. Sayowa end up building upon the theme as the track progresses with the inclusion of extremely mechanized, yet tribal sounding drums that are not too far off from what you would expect creatively from Sepultura. This record is called 'The Earth Shaker' with very good reason. The resulting impact of tracks like 'All The Lights' and 'Harvest' is percussion oriented, with slamming drums of differing types and tones leading the way as Sayowa cut a swath of musical devastation. Andreas Kisser joins the group for 3 tracks, most notably 'Straight To The Soul', where the Brazilian axe man contributes great performances that help to further enhance the sound of the group. The six piece cuts their teeth on a virulent combination of metal, hardcore and tribal sounds on the dynamic 'More Than Tears.' Sayowa certainly approach their music from a different standpoint, but they end up being much closer to a hardcore version of Puya than they are similar to Sepultura. This turns out to be a good combination of styles, with Sayowa offering up a meaty, aggressive tone that is made that much more effective by the emphasis on percussion. Pick it up and blow your car stereo speakers. The ground shaking grooves of Sayowa are that powerful.
