Former Savatage guitarist Chris Caffery continues to make a name for himself as a solo artist with this 'W.A.R.P.E.D.', a release that finds the metal mastermind unleashing his powerful metal attack with both barrels. From power metal to thrash to more traditional styles of metal, Caffery excels at creating music that is a step away from the norm, while retaining the metal sensibilities that fans enjoy. Caffery has produced no less than two full-length albums and two EPs in the span of a year, and although one may be tempted to think that his creative force may be dwindling, this latest record proves that he has more fresh ideas than many other metal mainstays. 'Erase' is a compelling artistic statement that shows the axeman's affinity for injecting leads that cements the listener's attention with an exclamation point. 'God Damn War' returns, being a part of the mini-record included with 'Faces', a showcase track that is definitive of the Caffery's abilities. The brawny 'Fool, Fool' is a metalhead's call-to-arms, while 'Election Day' finds the veteran incorporating heavy hitting sounds with a twist. 'State Of The Head' continues on with the political theme, melding thrashy riffs with impassioned, old school metal vocals, almost sounding like Dokken jamming with Megadeth at times. Much respect is due to this long time metal warrior and you can do your part by picking up this solid-as-a-rock effort.
