Spectacularly mystifying and equally rocking, Laruso might display some of the traits of today's Nu Metal bands, but the group often lurches into much more aggressive territory, ala Portugal's Anger. Overall, they create a vibe that is entirely palatable, as the band mixes kick-ass grooves that are worthy of repetition with stark transformations in direction as they churn out their fiery brand of melodic anthems designed to get the crowd standing in their seats. Think Nickelback with a much more severe attitude and you'll hit close to the mark on the enticing, slamming 'Nothing Left.' This group's sound is capital B-I-G, featuring wide-open harmonies and some of the best takes on the style in a great while. 'Same' rocks like crazy with a riff that would make Page Hamilton pout and an ear catching sound that is not too distant from the last album from American Head Charge. Smoking production graces this album, with all of the proper attention to the dynamics of the group's well-written material. This UK quintet assertively makes their presence known with a disturbing, downtuned hybrid of sounds on 'Fallin' Apart.' Primarily designed for those interested in completely rocking their asses off, this album presents a similar vibe to the one that surrounded Stone Temple Pilots' 'Core' record. You just know that these songs are destined to be major. Whether you test an acoustic track like 'Sorry Now' that is driven by the fantastic lead vocal performance of singer Jason, or scrutinizing a massive hook like you'll find on 'Cut Out', Laruso prove here that they intend to make a major mark. These guys aren't playing around, they're real, they're serious and they deliver a stunning batch of great tracks on this impressive release. Laruso up the stakes with this critical release. Bring it on indeed.

Pantera's 'Mouth for War' was the first single to ever debut at No. 1 on the metal chart.
