Their musical scope ever mutating into new sounds, Ulver remain one of the most creative talents out there today. Of all of the bands that have attempted a stab into the retro progressive sound which is becoming more and more commonplace these days, Ulver have emerged with an album which is so mighty in it's exponential experimentalism that it's safe to say that these sounds rival that of any psychedelic band to date, including those of Pink Floyd in terms of sheer scope of musical originality. There is a tremendous amount of depth to this record. A wide array of impressive guests augments a simply stunning collection of compositions which will send many listeners into vast caverns of sonic extrapolation. Poetically minimalist, the vocal sounds are entrancing and driven by tonality. At times, the musical direction of Ulver curves sharply, but the results are fine with the haunting spaced out gospel of Blinded By Blood redefines eerie. Textured vocal harmonies are well placed, leading to a sound that could be described as the acid rock of the new millennia, as dramatic string arrangements and electronic enhancements round out the tracks otherworldly vibe. 'It Is Not Sound' goes sinister in terms of sound, but the creepiness that surrounds this group's songs remains constant. Farther along into this track, the sound transforms into spastic synthesized melodies. 'In The Red' is a twist on sounds both mechanical and acoustic that is challenging initially, but becomes ever more impacting after several listening sessions. Suffice to say that a great many musicians will be borrowing from all of the ideas presented on 'Blood Inside' for a very, very long while. Ulver deserve a great deal of recognition and praise for putting together such a fine piece of work. Undoubtedly, this is the evolution of music.
