Certain to be agreeable with those who enjoy manic, roughhouse riffing, raw, abrasive vocals and skull-crushing, thunderhead beats, 'Moment Of Reckoning' is a monster of a debut from Dallas metal purveyors Jacknife. Overflowing with explicitly thrashing sounds that place aggressiveness at the forefront, the group rage with tremendous, maniacal determination on tracks like 'Unbreakable' and 'Deception', embracing a savage intensity that is equal parts Hatebreed and Pantera, at all times delivered with bruising, blunt force. Singer Joe Ortiz brings a hardcore sensibility to the group's frenzied thrashing attack with his ballsy growls and vicious vocal outbursts. Guitarists Steve Pruett and Mike Warren team up to deliver strong-arm guitar riffs and an ample dose of shredding, as well, providing 'A Glimpse Of Hell' with a sufficient amount of forcefulness to get any headbanger's neck whipping. Overall, the production on this record is top notch, with the band having achieved a steely tone without sacrificing the all important bottom- end thunder needed for this style of music to sound it's best. It could be said that many bands are attempting this style these days, but very few manage to pull off this type of music with such a degree of execution as you will find on tracks like `'Tears Fall Endless.' Jacknife inject melody into their music via skilled dual-guitar scalar work, but Ortiz doesn't get too melodic with his singing and this factor causes the music to come off as much more uncompromising as a result. With a strong demand for bands that can deliver balls-out metal with a high caliber performance, 'Moment Of Reckoning' gives the listener everything they're seeking, with twelve superb quality cuts of unrelenting metal intensity. Living up to the challenge is almost too easy for Jacknife on this record, and if you're ready for a severe dosage of amped up sonic warfare, this album is undoubtedly an obvious pick. A great metal album from all angles, 'Moment Of Reckoning' is easily one of the strongest debuts of the year, anyone who would disagree must be spending too much time listening to Britney Spears' Greatest Hits. Essentially, this is as real as a metal album gets, made for those who can't spend enough time thumping punters in the mosh pit. If you fit this description, you are strongly advised to seek out this hellacious platter for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

This album kicks major ass. A must for anyone who likes Pantera or Damageplan. Great guitar riffs, bonecrushing vocals and more.
