I am still very surprised that this band is still around. "War of Aggression" encompasses the past three A Perfect Murder Albums. The only thing A Perfect Murder has on its side is their seniority of age which doesn't exactly leave them stuck with the metalcore label but with the cross-over one as well.

I do not enjoy this band, I never have but I will put aside my insane and acute biases and approach this album with a better view. I'm just kidding, this album doesn't do anything out of the ordinary from any past A Perfect Murder release and if anything just drives their damn re-used formula into the ground more and more. I just do not understand how a band can go album after album without exploring different approaches, other dynamics, and versatile arrangements, instead you get another gallop frenzy, crunch crunch crunch, rinse and repeat album. I guess that is a fortunate circumstance for the fan that has the first two albums, congrads you can call it quits with the new albums! You have them all! But all resentment aside, one point I can give them is that they don't get ridiculous with breakdowns and keep to their All Out War tinged sound. The metal elements are fun though can't go wrong with a little thrash thrown in your mid tempo chug chug every once in awhile.

I guess what I am trying to say is that although I never saw the fun in this band, they have their regiment down to a T and never have strayed once from their goal to bring the whole metal and hardcore fields together. "War of Aggression" is good for what it is, and though I will never be converted, I give this band props for sticking to their guns.

Although they reinvented themselves as a lethal thrash metal band in the '90s, Pantera were originally glam/pop metallists — as proven by their '80s albums Metal Magic, Projects in the Jungle, and I Am the Night, as well as the stage names the members used during this period (bassist Rex Smith was known as Rex Rocker and guitarist Dimebag Darrell was known as Diamond Darrell).
