Intensely atmospheric and entirely morose, Morgul continue along the path of darkness with nine new tracks of dismal cacophony on the wicked journey that is 'All Dead Here…' Plowing through a wide variety of moods, 'The Mask Of Sanity' runs the gamut of dark emotions, each separate song part mutating into ever changing sounds of moribund emotion. The skillful arrangements herein are the key to Morgul's excellent songwriting, being that each part flows seamlessly into the next, assembled in a way that allows contrasts to conjoin effortlessly. From the cavernous sounds of 'The Need To Kill' emanates an aura of hopelessness that is remarkably evil, proving that it's not always necessary to rely on speed alone in order to drive home an impression of Imperial presence. The woeful nature of the title track is compelling; making this cut the most grand of the entire record. Culling influences from several musical styles ranging from chamber music to black metal, Morgul create a scorched landscape of sound that retains a distinctly ominous aesthetic. Interestingly, the last track, the driving, forceful 'Empty' is the most metal of the pack from a traditional standpoint, a winding, biting riff leading to distant, heartless vocalizations. Both dramatically magnificent and armed to the teeth with beastly sonic ammunition, 'All Dead Here…' is without a doubt the finest achievement of Morgul to date.
