Gizmachi are like a musical Tasmanian devil, creating sounds that spin the listener into the eye of an unforgiving storm of torrid metal. Still, the band manages to include a few sulking, churning mid tempoed breaks along the way, whether tripping off into the distance as they do on the outro of 'The Answer' or grinding through the murky depths of 'Wandering Eyes.' As is all the rage these days, Gizmachi are sure to throw in a melodic, hooky chorus to keep your attention, but if you're a big metal fan, the de-tuned, weighty riffing of guitarists Jason Hannon and Mike Laurino will accomplish that end regardless. Sean Kane is an impressive vocalist, putting plenty of strength behind his screams on 'Bloodwine', while delivering shrieks of agony and furious growls during 'Romantic Devastation'. Kris Gilmore, the group's bassist and drummer Jimmie Hatcher make for an extremely tight rhythm section, their precise strikes hitting with a considerable punch. Considering the band's association with Clown from Slipknot, comparisons are inevitable, however although you could place Gizmachi in the same general musical group with their mentors, the group succeed at carving out an impassioned, distorted niche of their own. The band is technically proficient in the execution of these eight tracks, making for an engaging listen. 'The Imbuing' is one of the hottest debuts of 2005. Its releases should garner a great deal of excitement throughout the metal community. Aggressive, bold and at all times thoroughly heavy, 'The Imbuing' proves that Gizmachi are definitely a band to keep an eye out for when they hit the concert trail.
